Native Name: Wexet. This name refers to all pines.
Height/Physical Description: 30 to 80 feet in height and 15 to 20 feet in width. Originally from the East Mediterranean. This tree was an original part of the garden and it is unknown how it arrived here. It is evergreen, thrives in heat, withstands wind and poor soil. These attributes were probably considered when past owners were making landscaping decisions for the property. Produces 3-inch reddish-brown pine cones that contain seeds loved by wild animals.
Use: Food that attracts wild game and building materials.
Harvesting: It is unknown whether the seeds are edible for humans but the seeds are definitely loved by wild animals which makes it an excellent tree for shade and habitat support.
